Miami University to celebrate Classes of 2020 and 2021 during in-person commencement ceremonies May 13-16
Miami University will celebrate the Class of 2021 and its 4,800 graduates during in-person commencement ceremonies at Yager Stadium (an outdoor venue), May 14-16, rain or shine. Miami is also holding an additional ceremony at 7 p.m. May 13 for its Class of 2020, whose in-person ceremony was canceled last year because of the pandemic.

Hannon Armstrong Foundation selects Miami for inaugural Climate Solutions Scholarship
Made possible through an initial $200,000 grant, the new needs-based scholarships will serve a cohort of up to five undergraduate students interested in pursuing careers related to climate action and sustainability. The program aims to provide financial assistance for high-achieving, sustainability-focused students from underrepresented communities at Miami and Morgan State University.

Miami's new Indoor Equestrian Center will expand K-12 outreach and student opportunities
Scheduled to open this summer, the 125-by-250 square foot riding surface within the arena will allow for year-round educational and outreach programming for the university community and year-round training for the club team and academic classes.

Miami to honor Wayne Embry and late wife with Freedom Summer of ’64 Award
A statue capturing Embry’s likeness and signature hook shot will be unveiled after the ceremony. The statue — along with a Wayne Embry Scholarship to support Miami varsity men’s basketball student-athletes — were created from private donations.

Miami student-athletes, coaches excited to be competing after tough pandemic year
They’re back playing on the baseball and softball fields this spring, enjoying success after the pandemic abruptly canceled their seasons last year. For field hockey, which saw its competition postponed from fall to spring due to the threat of COVID-19, it’s shaping up to be a magical season. The RedHawks just clinched the MAC title — earning an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
